Poets Den

Truth

Where do I go from here? Tell me what to think, what to say, what to fear.
Give me the news, give me the spin,
Tell me who’s good and what’s a sin.

*Hang on

Who wrote this story? Who holds the pen?
Who decides what true and what’s false again?
where are the facts, I find them not,
My questioning things… puts me on the spot

Trust the science, surely it’s right! .. history whispers, “Not always, sit tight.”
answer the questions , debate, and review,
Not the lies on repeat until it’s true

silence the doubt, shame dissent,
mock the data when wrongthink is sent, truth demands test and critique
the alternative is ignorant, reckless— and weak

the world on screen in our hand
Freedom in pixels, the mind in demand
Track what I like, shape what I see,
Algorithmic overlordyou know what best for me

the state gets involved to use the tool manipulating the viewer, so easy to fool government and press begin to align.
Sing the same chorus, march the same line.
Unless you hear it directly from us….
I hear this and its immediately sus
truth is found when ideas collide
I don’t trust when all are on same side

The left, the right, the red, the blue,
all have a story to sell you.
They will be mad when you don’t believe
But its so obvious an attempt to decieve

silence the voices that dare to defy,
real truth is born when I question why.
Show me proof, more evidence!
A reasonable ask for it to make sense.

Humiliate and threaten to have me stop?
Good luck with that…
now I definitely won’t let it drop.
Chain my words, shun me for good,
I still won’t comply because you think I should.

Brand me a skeptic to ask who gains?
and profits from anger, division, or pain?
The world’s not simple, black or white,
The truth takes work—it isn’t always in sight.

where do we go from here? You choose.
Think for yourself—don’t be confused
Not Orwell’s fate, nor Atwood’s fear,
question always to keep things clear.
